What would it take to shake you, wake you from this dream To make you stumble to your feet to face the light, to feel the heat 'Cause you have slept, though prophets preach and sirens scream To break your placid vista's silence, a palisade of passive violence And if I can't get through to you, I fear what that could mean So shed your signal-jamming, Goddamned vanity We're spinning out towards calamity The hourglass is running out Against complacency and doubt Infernos close that must be doused Don't turn a blind eye to this burning house The time is now, the time is now No circumventing this, you can't just walk away The blood of generations stains you, and testifies of all you feign to be And bites the corner of your conscience just to see if you can feel And holds you up against the glow to find out if you're real Or are you numb, a native son of this creeping hell An heir apparent set to watch the ashes fall It's time to show us all The hourglass is running out Against complacency and doubt Infernos close that must be doused Don't turn a blind eye to this burning house The time is now, the time is now It's not a question of your understanding only, but your empathy A test, a trial on display under the guiding eye of history This is the moment you make clear the scope and depth of your ability To meet the measure of your moment, to keep the promise of your destiny The hourglass is running out Against complacency and doubt Infernos close that must be doused Don't turn a blind eye to this burning house The time is now, the time is now

There's a static on the airwaves that I can't trace There's a fire on the runway to a higher place I couldn't take the euthanasia written on your face The weight of panic on the dashboard, the stretching out of space What do we do when words have all but failed To break the wall, to pierce the veil Do we try or drive the nail into the coffin? The stakes are higher than they've ever been Each moment calls for discipline The kind that's rare and seldom seen so often There's a bullet in the backline of all we have to say There's a shiver gripping your spine and I'm the same way The woven web is coming undone, we rip reality And through the fissure, futures unfold and wrap around me We take the roles of polar points Across the Universe, we're tumbling, tossed An infinite expanse comes down between us I dream of only yesterdays And wish that I could find a way Through time and space, I raise my prayer to Venus

Viper 05:45
Well look who crept out from their hole And slithered their way out into the light What brought you here What made you think you had permission, had the right? How long have you been camping out You predator, you sniper? Was the damage done just not enough for you You narcissist, you fucking viper? I don't hate you 'Cause hate is more than you deserve And it's a poison that we only serve ourselves But I'd erase you From every picture I've not burned If I could keep the lessons learned and guard them well. Oh well... I wonder what fresh blood you've drained Whose spirit you've infected and laid low What nightmare have you wrapped around The refugees of another broken home? Your erudition can't disguise The mind that carves the mark and passes blame And no drug has worked to stop my stomach turning Every time I hear your name I don't hate you 'Cause hate is more than you deserve And it's a poison that we only serve ourselves But I'd erase you From every picture I've not burned If I could keep the lessons learned and guard them well. Oh well... I don't hate you But that's for me and no one else A gift accepted in your spite, not something owed 'Cause I won't let you Add one more brick onto my burden I cast you out, I cut you off, I shed the load Now go!

Inheritor 05:23
This city under anesthesia Sprawled out cold with winter rain Holds only echoes, ancient memories Of songs that used to ease the pain I've walked these silent streets at morning And wondered just how long it's been Since I last saw the world in motion Or heard the laughter of a friend A languid, hazy fog goes drifting And winds its way on through the night And with it flow the dreams of better days When hope was high, the future bright A solemn sight, a bleak reminder Finds me everywhere I go And what to make of fate, this feeling I couldn't say, I just don't know 'Cause I'm finding more of me, though less of everything I had And I still see the sun and feel the wind and find I'm glad And I could throw away the only life I have to live But I can't shake the thought that there is more to give and to receive So I breathe deep A silver sun, a vacant freeway Cracked and scarred beneath my feet Extends ahead in endless welcome To somewhere Earth and Heaven meet Whatever might be out there waiting Belongs to fantasy and faith Until I step across that threshold And leave behind a life erased 'Cause I'm finding more of me, though less of everything I had And I still see the sun and feel the wind and find I'm glad And I could throw away the only life I have to live But I can't shake the thought that there is more to give and to receive So I breathe deep

And so we circle right back to this question Uncertain now as we were at the start Where do we go to find our shelter? How to repair this broken heart? What do we make of all our failings To drive our flag into the Earth? How do we bear the weight of being The sum of every death and birth? So far as sound and vision have revealed it No solid rock on which to stand Appears that doesn't crack and crumble Dissolved into these shifting sands Which through the hourglass are falling To bury all we've said and done Can you show me something to believe in? Or do we lose it all before we have begun A diamond eye eclipse enshrouds in bleeding moonbeams (Breaking waves of weary questioning provide the) Fuel the fire, shedding sparks of revelation (Taking heart we touch the timeless higher vision) Enter second stage, the sunlight dancing, burning (Through the scars of the impermanent and dying) Leaving only love that spans the emptiness Raise your voice, be counted, we will keep on trying And if the shadows take their toll This hunger of the soul A pain so deep, immense and unforgiving Don't lose sight the embers glow There's a truth as pure as snow Unstained, enshrined in everything that's living Here, where time and will collide It's here that we decide The course we'll take amidst this endless motion Fall apart and fade away Or flow into the day To find we're waves within a boundless ocean The most that we can say is that we can't say anything The words were never writ that could, themselves, resolve our suffering But daring still, we go on drifting in the consoling warmth of grace With the courage to encompass all that comes in our embrace We lay down all our fantasies with a smile on our face We hold fast to hope and kindness, though all else may be erased And through the cracks in all we know, we catch a glimpse of endless space We rest awhile and then we take our place We rest awhile and rejoin the human race In this never-ending testament We rebuild our broken instruments And sing of joy and mercy as we go from here We harmonize the dissonance Reshape our shattered innocence With patience as our polestar We will go
