Exquisite corpses hang transfixed under fading amber rays And parish flies with famine eyes find they've nothing left to say Your father rode to Ragnarok with bloody hands in bleak repose No glory crowns his hallowed brow as the jaws of Heaven close Chimera kings, laid bare before eviscerated thrones Seize predatory vacancies in the marrow of your bones Distilled in silver cruciform with broken alabaster tongues They bind the silent witness and drain conviction from their lungs In this mutilated testament Blunt trauma breaks the instrument And all I want to know Is where we go from here To filter out the dissonance Make sense of shattered innocence All I want to know Is where we go A skeletal inheritance, profane and polished acid white Dances out of reach, ahead of me inside my dreams tonight No prize for Eden's bastard children, all that remains to do is try To find the meaning in the misdirect and the light where shadows lie In this mutilated testament Blunt trauma breaks the instrument And all I want to know Is where we go from here To filter out the dissonance Make sense of shattered innocence All I want to know Is where we go

Superhero 05:20
I am not a superhero I only play one on TV To lend the world some inspiration And sell it back its self-esteem I'll give you something to grow up with Until you look behind the scenes And find the secrets of my power Are tin and polyethylene I am not a superhero I'm not the man up on the screen Carving clear lines through crooked questions With lightning fists and laser beams I hide my fear with fog and mirrors They make it easy to believe But I wonder, when this costume's gone Will you still look up to me I am not a superhero Though I can't say I never tried To be the one who held the world for you And wiped away the tears you cried And if the act has lost its magic And if I'm not all that you dreamed I hope you won't forget my best attempts And everything they used to mean

What to do with this unrelenting feeling of urgency What to say when the crack of a gun splits the night Waking you up from sweet dreams to a fear that's festering To the slow march of madness, to the call to take flight Pack your bags, turn the lights off, we won't be back any time soon In darkness we take the way travelled by few Slowly the rain falls and leaves the road ahead of us glistening But far brighter is the hope of a new life for you So follow me for one more mile I'll sing for you and wear a smile Tell you stories under starlight of the promised land And as we walk I'll always hold your little hand Don't look back and don't slow down As we pass through every godforsaken town We'll make it to a place where you can grow in peace Away from blood that runs in broken city streets I'll lie awake to watch over you keeping a steady eye I'll go without when the rations are running low I'll be prepared if there's danger out on the horizon Believe me when I say that you'll be the last one to know I'll carry you on my shoulders if your feet can take no more When the night is too cold, I'll build us a fire All that it takes is your face to bring courage and strength to me When my will and my body are beginning to tire So follow me for one more mile I'll sing for you and wear a smile Tell you stories under starlight of the promised land And as we walk I'll always hold your little hand Don't look back and don't slow down As we pass through every godforsaken town We'll make it to a place where you can grow in peace Away from blood that runs in broken city streets
4.
Here I am, Goddamn Unnamed, unclaimed and indistinguished Shifted, sifted with the tide My heart is gone, my hope extinguished They say that water has no memory No form, no final resting place And I'm the unforgiving truth Abandoned, long forgotten and far from grace All I was has been erased All I was has been erased I feel no love, I have no face All I was has been erased Here I am, Goddamn Pale foam that rides the crest of errant waves And though I've tried to trade a hundred lives for mine It seems I can't be saved All I was has been erased All I was has been erased Someone come on down and take my place All I was has been erased
5.
Stars Apart 08:57
We sold our insecurities And took a chance to dance on borrowed time Embracing the absurdity Convinced that we'd pull off the perfect crime And you can blame it on a difference of design Or the weight of words that can't be left behind Lovely though the story goes It's harder on the heart than in the mind I'd love to see your face But you're out among the stars, gone without a trace My miracle misplaced There's a void I've come to know, vast as outer space A change of sound and scenery Another year to swallow my regrets To dream of when you needed me Pretending that I wish I could forget The way it felt when the pieces seemed to fit The words we carved in stone, the fires that we lit Funny how I think about you now More than I think I can admit I'd love to see your face But you're out among the stars, gone without a trace My miracle misplaced There's a void I've come to know, vast as outer space
6.
Vigil 03:30
The house where you live Is high on a hill And when the black clouds gather 'round As they sometimes will The time-worn path between your door and mine Becomes so dark and difficult to find But you're on my mind I imagine you there All the terror and tension Coming down, down, down In a flood of the unknown and unmentioned You brace against a wind that screams and sighs And count the hours 'till the storm subsides And I can only sympathize If I could stop the rain If I could set you free I'd do everything I can I'd like to think you'd do the same for me So keeping vigil 'till color cracks the shrouded sky I'll light a lamp and keep a watchful eye I'm standing by
7.
Shelter me Shield my eyes So I can't see The falling skies I guess it's time To reassess our lives To make our peace And bury our beloved paradigm The best that we can do is laugh And take care of each other Take care of each other Until the unthinkable has passed Take care of each other Take care of each other Brace yourselves The tower's coming down The spell Is breaking now Uncertainty Eclipses and engulfs All that we once believed To be as sure as sunrise Time will tell The best that we can do is laugh And take care of each other Take care of each other Until the unthinkable has passed Take care of each other Take care of each other
